I am now at my 24 weeks. Last Thu i went for my routine check up plus a special GTT (glucose tolerance test). It is not a requirement unless there has been family history of diabetes.
I had to fast the night before the test, easy easy for me...just slept through it but the hardest part was when i woke up in the morning dying for my usual glass of milk. Pa Pa mui teased me and kept asking me what i want for breakfast. That too..not a problem, as i told myself i better dont sabotage this test else i have to do it all over again.
First test was done at 8.45am, blood sample was drawn. Then i was given a cup of glucose to drink....it was SUPERB sweet, in fact it was unbearable to swallow. Pa Pa mui was telling me that my appetite for the day should be gone now since i have to finish a good 150ml of that glucose solution. YUCKY!! And was told that i have to go back at 11am to have the 2nd blood test and NO food still....(yeah...like i need food after all that glucose).
While waiting, we went for our ultrasound scan. It has been a month since we last saw baby mui. He has grown bigger now, approximately 774gm and the water bag seems to be getting smaller for him.
He is also kicking MORE now, in fact now he is starting to response to pa pa mui now as he has started reading to baby mui.

Year 2008
Hee hee.....i really should be updating my blog more often. But as you all know, with my tummy getting bigger, the fatigue starts to kick in...so now instead of updating my blog more often, i am often caught in bed reading one of those Mothers and Babies magazines.
Reality slowly becomes clearer and clearer as we have already counted down to year 2008 and our baby will be due on 25th April 08, a day short of my birthday.
We have bought quite some stuff for baby and my sister has been most kind to pass down the old clothes from my first nephew....and one of which was a tied dye shorts that i bought for him on my backpack Hatyai trip somewhere back in 2001 or 2002...and the short is still in excellent condition and it brought back so much memory. Those carefree days when pa pa mui and i will just planned a trip and executed it without much hassle.
But with the new additional coming, things might be slightly different but we promise each other to spend couple quality time when things start to get insane with the baby.
Darn....must be the hormones...i am writing such emotional stuf.

Hip Hop Baby!!
Last Sat, baby mui went for his 2nd musical concert. The first one was a Chinese Orchestra and the second one is the Classical Orchestra by SSO. This concert has a Xmas theme and most of the musical pieces were familiar tunes that we have heard during this festive period for many many years.
However, the first 20 mins of the concert, they were playing Nutcrackers by Tchaikovsky and baby mui was sleeping away. But after the intermission, they started to play cheery xmas tunes and baby mui decided that he should hip hop his way through the pieces.
I sat through the concert with a grin on my face......both from the cheery music and the very fact that baby mui is tickling me to death....

Zzzz...
I have been deprived of my sleep lately.....sleeping at 11pm and waking up at least THRICE in the night by the kicking/ punching/ tickling of baby mui. Not that i am complaining, but each time i woke up in the night and i turned around and see pa pa mui sleeping so soundly...the evil thoughts just creeped into my mind. Here are some of the scenarios:
1) Wake up pa pa mui, i want WATER!
2) Pa pa mui....i think my left leg just twitch and i am having a cramp soon.
3) Pa pa mui, i cannot sleep, do u wana talk?
But on last Sunday, i really shook pa pa mui up and 6.30am to ask him to bring me out for breakfast...which he gladly did so. I felt bad but the hunger pang just refused to go away....and yes the stomach is showing now.

Story Time...
Last night, Pa Pa mui was all ready to read to baby mui a story book. Cos they said now its the best time to read or talk to the baby so that baby can identify with the parents and they will be able to recognise you in a crowded room by the voice.
So i passed pa pa mui a book, a book called - Let's Celebrate Father's Day. But pa pa mui refused to read the book, he said its absurd to read such a book to the baby. I was puzzled so i asked him why. He replied "Look at page 2".
Here's how the story went......
Page 1 - Tomorrow is Father's Day, let's make a card for our father.
Page 2 - Boy 1 said "But i dont have a father"
Page 2 - Boy 2 said "I have a father".
Did we go on??

Our Son - The Exhibitionist
Last Thu, we were finally cleared off the special clinic list as the developement of our baby mui seem rather favourable to the doctor. After 2 rounds of scan, we were finally back to our own gynae again.
During the 1st scan, the first image that we saw was our son with his legs opened and exposing himself to the whole room to see. Usually i would hear people saying that they have a hard time knowing the gender cos the baby usually will keep their legs tightly closed or they would turn and keep their gender view out of sight. But not our baby mui, almost in every view, we were able to see his gu gu bird....gosh.
People has commented how my tummy looks like for a 5 month, but the doctor has assured us that our baby is normal, in fact its between a medium and a large baby. However, we are unable to upload any more picture of baby mui as the doctor said that the baby has grown too big so they will concentrate on measuring the dimensions of the head etc instead.
FIY, a baby at 5th month should be able the size of a banana, thats abt 6.5 inches.

Ouch....
Ouch...this morning at my work desk, i felt a sharp pain just under my tummy and the pain seems to travel. I quickly refer to my bible www.babycentre.co.uk for reference. Apparently i am at my 19 week now so this is what they called the round ligament pain, and it's caused by the stretching of the muscles and ligaments that support your growing uterus. But secretly, i think its the baby happily stretching around in my tummy.
And....my feet size has just gone by 1 size. Luckily i bought a size 38 shoes last week, usually i am a size 37, i have hindsight leh.
On diet.....i can now eat ice cream as they are pack on the calories and saturated fat but it's also a great source of calcium. And of cos hamburgers which can be high in saturated fat but they're also a great source of iron.
Who's heading to Macdonald's with me now?
