Ray's First Hospital Stay

Ray was coughing since 13rd Oct and we took him to a pedia on 15th Oct when we realised there was wheezing sound from him. Doc said its most probably asthmatic so we were given inhaler and medicine and sent home.

Ray did get better after the 3rd day but we have to stop the inhaler on 5th day and that was Friday when everything went wrong. He was breathless when we picked him up from my mom's place but he was still smiling but just less active. Thats when we decided to send him down to KK hospital to ensure that he is fine.

When we reached the A & E, the staff were fast to get Ray to be checked by the doctor. And we were told straight away that Ray will have to stay for observation. My tears almost roll and i felt so shitty becos as his mom, i failed to protect him and landed him in hospital. And now he is suffering from bronchiolitis.

Here's Ray getting a puff from the inhaler that is supposed to open his airway. We tried the method for almost 3 days before we decided that it wasnt working and they started him on another method which is combining adrenalin and oxygen to let Ray inhale.

He is no longer suffering from shortness of breathe but the wheezing is still there so they decided to bring in the lung specialist to take a look at Ray. Each extra day of staying in the hospital might only expose Ray to more new virus, there was even a day when we were so determined to bring Ray back home to nurse when he threw up just after we changed him out of his patient's clothes. We took it as a sign the staying might be a better idea after all.

The wheezing is still there but the specialist said it could be post bronchio symptom that could persist for weeks and we were given the green light to go home on 23rd Oct. And we stayed there from 18th Oct to 23rd Oct, almost a week. Well, for now the review will be in 1 month's time so meanwhile we will have to monitor him closely.
