32 week = 8 months

Today is our 32 weeks scan, Phieng Phieng is now more responsive to touches and sounds so when we had our usual scan today with the scanning device going over my tummy to and fro, Phieng Phieng kicked in objection. Especially with the lesser space in my womb, i seriously dont think he likes to be probed. Its also worst when i sit up straight. Here's a pic of me at my 32 weeks, pls pay GREAT attention to my belly button as it has been tucked and pulled by the pregnancy and now looking like a navel orange.

Phieng Phieng is now 2.2kg and he is now a medium size baby. This is the last stage where he will have to pile on fats before he enter the world as he is so used to be cosy in my womb.

Can't wait to see this little fella soon....

And this post, we bring u exclusive preview of how the scanning looks like in the room. Pa pa mui risked his life as he snapped away cos the doc was screaming at him to stop or get out of the room.

M is for Medicine

Last Sunday, i was out with Pa Pa Mui having Macdonald for lunch. And i was telling him how my colleauge managed to keep her daughter away from Macdonald and when she is in there, she dont even ask for sugary drink or anything.

So we came up with this G-R-E-A-T idea, we will tell Phieng Phieng that Macdonald is actually a pharmacy that dispenses medication and that frightening red hair man by the door....he is the one who gives the jab.

Training....

With our first baby coming, we are both anxious and worry abt the same time whether or not we can make it through we first day as a pair of new parents. To equip us with the 'know how' techinques, i signed us up for a 3 hours class at Birth and Beyond - where tasks were mostly assigned to the dads so that the moms can rest.

Pa Pa mui was put to the test with the napkin folding, and i must say he did it pretty well. Here's the pics....

First, Spreading out the cloth diaper

Second, carefully folding the napkin

Thirdly, the almost finished product

The class also taught fathers how to bath their babies and they even brought in a real 2 months old baby to demonstrate. I was unable to get a pic as the dads swamped to the baby and knowing i am only that tall, i was unable to take any pic.

The class has been extremely helpful and i now know that i have to take good care of myself before i can take care of my baby.

11 KG Weight Gain

Phew...11 kg weight gain so far. The knees are still working although some days they do go on a strike. Water retention has also started to hit up but of cos all these are the common problems for preggie women. So i have signed up for a foot reflex course hoping that it will make me feel more comfortable during my last trimester.

The weight gain for myself seem to have stopped there but i do get more hungry easily now, so i still pick those healthy choice, i mean junk food once in a while is ok but i really should be watching my diet. Really hoping that Phieng Phieng is taking in all the nutrients.

Some pple has commented abt my 11kg weight gain saying that its ALOT but then again every pregnancy is different so why bother, right?

30 weeks...

Phew....we are slowly getting there. Every once in a while i will have this panic attack. I have not wash all the clothes for Phieng Phieng, i have not purchase all the items that are necessary for his daily use. I have not child proof the house even though we are far from it before he can actually start to crawl/ walk. Arrgghh...so many things so little time. Sometimes i wonder if we both will be a good parents. Sad to say, nope, not really. Here is a good example at what we have done to my nephew who refused to open his eyes during a picture taking with us.

Swimming

I have got this sudden urge to swim after seeing pa pa mui in the pool last Sat. So yesterday, pa pa mui suggested that we go swimming. So armed with my swimming gear we proceed and reached the swimming pool at 8pm. We had some snacks by the pool and by the time i decided to hit the pool (with the water level below knee caps), i looked at pa pa mui and told him that either he has to push me into the pool or i have to plunge in myself cos the water is FREAKING cold!!

After 3 mins of walking around the shallow part of the pool with pa pa mui encouraging me like a child who is about to take his shower, i decided to call it a night. I came out of the pool and sat by the pool side looking at those heros swimming around.

Swimming mission....failed. I'll try day swimming instead.

Chicken Toes

Sigh...the cramp is getting worst these days. Last night in the car with pa pa mui, my toes were all cramp up like the chicken claws and this attack went on and on throughout our trip home.

Initially, i teared cos the pain hit me really badly but after a few attacks, i actually could laughed abt out and pa pa mui thought i was going insane. So in the end, we both were laughing abt the cramp attacks and it really took my mind of the pain.

Hmm...perhaps during labour, i should adapt this approach?

10 More Weeks - 77 Days

It is indeed unbelievable, just 10 more weeks and both of us will be proud parents to Phieng Phieng. We are now trying to decide a name. For myself, i want a name that has a IMPACT the moment u look or read it. But then again, its really though as pa pa mui has a unique surname 梅. We had so many funnie versions of the name with the surname just for a laugh. Here's some examples:

1) 梅任耀 (Mei Ren Yao)
2) 梅良兴 (Mei Liang Xing)

And of cos the list goes on....its really tough to come up with a good name cos the name is stuck with you F-O-R-E-V-E-R and we have to exercise extreme caution when it comes to that. You not only have to pronounce the name in all dialects in case it sounds weird for one. Come on, there must be times when u laughed out when u heard funnie dialect name being called out in the clinic, classrooms, seminars etc.

These Legs are Meant For Talking....

Last Thursday was another routine check up for me....as we sat outside the room waiting for our turn, i could feel Phieng Phieng as usual was punching away with his hands on my right ribs so pa pa mui bend down and talk to Phieng Phieng to calm him down like he did every now and then. Few mins later, it was our turn. This monthly scan usually gets us all excited as we get to see Phieng Phieng and how big he is getting. I laid on the bed as the doctor started to scan, she pointed to the screen telling us that the baby's head is down at the bottom and the legs are on top (under my boobs). I could almost feel pa pa mui's rolling his eyes. Few minutes later, we were out of the room.

Pa pa mui looked at me and said "So i have been talking to the legs huh". I burst out laughing explaining to pa pa mui that i didnt know that his son has got such a powerful leg kicking. I have been assuming that Phieng Phieng has always been laying horizontal across my womb.

Next stop, our gynae visit. She look at the last Glucose Test result and cleared me. Yipppe!! And she also told us that the baby now weighs 1.2kg to 1.3kg, and she assured me again that its not a small baby, its a MEDIUM to BIG size baby. U should see pa pa mui beaming with that "Yes Yes" look.
